Description of the reception facility :

Colegio Nueva Paideia is a rural secondary school located in La Pintada, in the department of Antioquia, on the Julio C. Hernández Campus. It offers a high-quality educational model, both academically and personally, for young farmers in southwestern Antioquia, within a comprehensive scholarship system.

The educational model is inspired by the meaning of the word paideia in ancient Greece, that is to say, a concept of holistic education:

  • Academic excellence, based on active and participatory methods, formative and non-competitive assessment, and personalized support.
  • Human and civic education, structured around six axiomatic pillars: wisdom, sensitivity, strength, autonomy, justice and equanimity.
  • Playful-cognitive pedagogy, which combines the body, emotions, critical thinking and creation.
  • Arts, crafts and physical practices as structuring components of the school program.

This approach allows learning to extend beyond the classroom to daily life, collective life, and community experience.

Goals :

The Nueva Paideia school is seeking a volunteer for a Civic Service placement to support the teaching staff in English language instruction, academic support, and career and personal guidance for high school students (ages 14 to 17). This mission is part of a development initiative and aims to promote education for all.

Description of missions :

  • Exemption from English teaching courses, in order to strengthen the skills and training of students at Colegio Nueva Paideia, in grades 9, 10 and 11.
  • Support in the implementation of educational activities, within the framework of curricular and extracurricular activities, the program also having a boarding school for students.
  • Support for the organization of workshops to strengthen one or more academic subjects for secondary school students.
  • Providing support to students in certain artistic and sporting classes.

Other :

  • Strong initiative is expected, as well as a high degree of linguistic and socio-cultural affinity for the local context.
  • Training at the start of La Guilde + onboarding within the team upon arrival on site.
