INITIAL's civic service

Most of our volunteers go on missions already advertised by La Guilde or one of our partners. But every year, candidates come to us with their own project in mind: an organization they met while traveling, a family contact, an organization they found online. It's possible, and it's even a distinct option within the program.

Civic Service Initiative (SCI)

With more than 500 volunteers on missions each year in some sixty countries, in roughly equal parts between civic service and VSI, La Guilde observes a fundamental shift: more and more candidates are contacting it with a project already identified, rather than in response to a published offer.

An internship completed locally, a family connection, a meeting during a previous trip, an association network discovered online: You are sometimes already in contact with a host organization before the mission even exists administratively.t.

In practical terms: you don't need to wait for a mission to match your idea. You can propose your own, anywhere in the world, and La Guilde will review it with you.

Two ways to enter the system (VSI VSC):

Responding to a previously published mission, or proposing a structure identified by yourself. Both lead to the same status, the same support, and the same legal security.

How to transform your idea into a structured mission

  1. You identify a structure
  2. You should contact the partnerships manager before committing.
  3. The Guild is reviewing your eligibility with you.
  4. Signing of a partnership agreement
  5. You formalize your project
  6. You leave, accompanied like any other volunteer
