For the past 30 years, Children of the Sun they are working in Madagascar to provide shelter and education to street children. Madagascar is one of the poorest countries in the world, with nearly two out of three children not attending school. This is why, today, the EDS villages house more than 500 street children who will remain there until they find their first job.

Context :

As part of our development, our association is launching a key search: a Director of Operations based in Madagascar, with a start date of January 1, 2027 (ideally from October 2026 to ensure the transition).

A strategic role at the heart of the action

As a key link between the office in France and the local teams, you will be responsible for the overall operational management of the association in the field.

Missions:

• To ensure liaison and coordination between France and Madagascar
• Managing local teams
• Oversee reporting and ensure the quality of feedback
• Ensure that processes are followed and suggest improvements.
• Monitor the proper implementation of directives (education, health, food, work)
• Ensure financial discipline in close collaboration with the Treasurer
• Actively participate in recruitment and HR management

A profile that is committed above all else:

We are looking for a person:

• Driven by a strong motivation for humanitarian work
• Eager to get involved in a concrete way in Madagascar
• Possessing strong organizational and managerial skills
• Experience in Africa, in NGOs or in management is a plus… but commitment and mindset will make the difference.

Contract & conditions:

• 2-year VSI contract: 01/01/2027 → 31/12/2028
• Option for early start during transition
• Monthly allowance + annual bonus + accommodation
• Possible evolution depending on results and needs
