Personalized support from day one

From the moment you are recruited, a dedicated advisor will support you through every step: administrative procedures, pre-departure preparation, and regular progress reviews of your assignment. We pay particular attention to the quality of your experience, your well-being, and your mental health throughout your assignment.

A presence on the ground

The team based in France works closely with the base camps, particularly in Madagascar, Cambodia, Colombia, and Senegal, the countries where we send the most volunteers. This presence allows for close monitoring, field visits, and direct contact with the host organizations.

A secure commitment

In addition to regular check-ins with your contact person, the team remains available even in case of emergency thanks to a 24/7 on-call number dedicated to volunteers.

Our training programs

Before leaving on a mission, La Guilde accompanies each volunteer through comprehensive and engaging training, designed as a true first step in the adventure.

For Civic Service volunteers

Before departing for their mission location, volunteers participate in mandatory Civic and Citizenship Training (FCC), held at La Guilde's headquarters in Levallois-Perret, north of Paris, over two days. A key event before departure, this training enables them to:

  • Understanding the framework of the Civic Service program, its procedures, and the rights and responsibilities of each participant
  • Understanding issues of interculturality, time management, and communication with others
  • Identify key points of attention to ensure health and safety on missions
 

Led by the La Guilde team and expert speakers, the FCC is also a valuable opportunity for networking. Volunteers connect with other young people preparing to leave, share their motivations, and begin building a committed network. And because good preparation also involves socializing, lunch is provided throughout the training.

For International Solidarity Volunteers

Future VSI volunteers benefit from a tailor-made pre-departure training: 3 days in person and 2 days for volunteers not living in France or living far from Paris who do not have the opportunity to come and do the training directly at the headquarters of La Guilde.

This thorough preparation allows us to:

  • Mastering the status and specificities of the VSI
  • Understanding the support offered throughout the mission
  • Anticipating health and safety challenges on the ground
  • Benefit from awareness training on gender-based and sexual violence (GBV) while on assignment
  • Acquire practical stress management tools

This training is notably provided by popular education trainers, a doctor specializing in infectious and tropical diseases and a psychologist.

Designed as a space for exchange and professional development, this training gives volunteers the tools to engage with confidence and responsibility.

Return session

International Solidarity Volunteers (VSI) and Civic Service volunteers are invited, at the end of their mission, to debriefing sessions designed to reflect on their experience. These discussions allow them to highlight the value of their commitment to their career plans, better prepare for their return to France, and receive support with the administrative procedures to be completed after their mission.

These training courses take place over two days in person at La Guilde's offices. They are also offered remotely, in a condensed half-day format, to adapt to individual needs.
